Video encoding is not the kind of thing anyone is going to do on a low-powered platform, but it is still a good way to compare the CPU performance of the Intel Atom 330 and AMD E-350. In this particular test, the AMD E-350 was just 5% faster than the Atom 330. The x264 HD Benchmark 3.0 is used to measure the performance of a two-pass 1280x720 encoding, displaying the results in a frame per second format. When compared to the Intel Atom 330, the AMD E-350 was 31% faster in this test. Using TMPGEnc 4.0 Xpress we converted a 715MB avi file to mpg and measured the time it took each processor to complete this task. Although the AMD E-350 out matched the Intel Atom 330 in our previous two encoding tests, it stumbled when testing with TMPGEnc 4.0 Xpress. Here the AMD E-350 was a surprising 48% slower than the Intel Atom 330.
